Description Voicu Liviu 2003-06-10 08:00:06 UTC
As the title says: can't do "emerge rsync"
Why? since a few days, when last portage version had included a few options in
make.conf for sync I can not emerge rsync anymore!!!
Well, after 2 days of searching bugs in my system I have found that a new conf
file has been installed named: /etc/conf.d/rsyncd ( this file sould hold the
info about local proxy like RSYNC_OPTS="RSYNC_PROXY=\"server:port\"" ??? Possible?
Any way, I have solved my problem by exporting RSYNC_PROXY="server:port"

And note to your self, I never have had to export it....strange, something has
been changed incorectly.......

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. export RSYNC_PROXY="server:port"
2. RSYNC_OPTS="RSYNC_PROXY=\"server:port\"" in /etc/conf.d/rsyncd
3.
Actual Results:
After exporting RSYNC_PROXY="server:port" all is normal............

Now also I can not emerge stuff from CVS...wtf?
Somethink in this latest "portage" is configured wrong!...any idea about more configurations?

Regards,
Liviu

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about here.
Why are you setting RSYNC_PROXY twice?

What were you talking about with the new config file?

>I'm not quite sure what you're talking about here.
Read again :-)

>Why are you setting RSYNC_PROXY twice?
I'm not setting it twice!
My solution is to export the RSYNC_PROXY
The second solution could be to edit the /etc/conf.d/rsyncd which is a new file and we should get an info about this file after emerging the sys-apps/portage!
(just an oppinion)

>What were you talking about with the new config file?
The file "/etc/conf.d/rsyncd" is holding the additional settings for rsync no?

rsyncd != rsync

So... No... The new file has nothing to do with emerge.
Set RSYNC_PROXY in make.conf.

This is documented in the install guide.
