Description Jarryd Beck 2008-06-08 11:43:33 UTC
The build of gnome-session 2.20.3 failed at the configure stage because of a missing dependency. The dependency is resolved by emerging tcp-wrappers.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge gnome-session
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The installation failed.

Expected Results:
The installation would successfully install gnome-session.

This occurred on a fresh install of the 2008.02 beta.

I can't paste a log because I fixed it by emerging tcp-wrappers and the log was deleted by emerge after that. The best I can do is what's pasted below. The error was during running configure, and it printed something about not being able to find libwrap.so.

well since you have tcpd in you use flags and gnome-session has the proper dependency I fail to see what could be the problem. Reassigning to release.

Same thing, installed off the 2008 livecd (amd64).
After oneshot re-emerging tcp-wrappers, gnome-session installed fine.

The proposed resolution does not work on my recently installed system (dual core AMD64, 2.6.24-gentoo-r5). Emerging tcp_wrappers works correctly but the error reported when afterwards emerging gnome-session persists:
.
.
checking for sys/param.h... yes
checking whether libgnomeui was built with session management... yes

This not a missing dependency failure because the dependency is clearly stated in Gnome-sessions ebuild file and emerging tcp-wrappers succeeds.
Comment 7 Alexander Mikhalev 2009-03-23 12:14:49 UTC
I can confirm that this bug made it into gnome-session-2.22.3-r1 under amd64 stable. same simptoms as with Leo De Maeyer.
Any hints?

Please test with gnome-session-2.30
Comment 9 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2011-05-13 19:55:47 UTC
No idea why this was assigned to the release team so I'm reassigning it.
In any case, might this be fixed as OBSOLETE?
Comment 10 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-13 20:10:48 UTC
Well history shows quite well why it was assigned to release team. Anyway this bug is clearly obsolete/fixed by now. Closing.
