Description Herman Timmermans 2008-06-08 10:29:51 UTC
I'm running 2.6.24-gentoo-r8 on amd64 laptop. I'm using b43 driver with the correct firmware. Wireless connection using WEP works fine, however using WPA Personal doesn't seem to connect at all.

Networkmanager Installed versions: 0.6.6(22:18:11 11-03-08)(crypt gnome -debug -doc)
b43-fwcutter Installed versions: 011(11:32:41 01-06-08)
Broadcom firmware 4.80.53.0

When I set up a dual boot on this laptop with Xubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) it works out of the box with WPA and WEP with exactly the same firmware and Networkmanager versions.

Maybe a duplicate of bug 199374 ???

Any suggestions or work-around this problem ? I do need WPA and don't want to quit Gentoo ;-)

Herman

I found out that when I click on the NM applet and choose to
connect to another wireless network:(the one that refuses to connect)
Type the ESSID manually (the name of the network)
select the wireless security WPA Personal and enter my long passphrase, it connects just fine ???????

Maybe this gives you an indication of where the problem is.

Can this problem be reproduced with current NetwoorkManager (0.7.1)?
