i received kernel bug crash if i tried to exit X.
the error is as follows

I see the exact same behaviour when quitting X from any of the r7 live cd's

my hardware is a powerbook TiBook 1ghz w/ superdrive, radeon 9000 video

fixed on rc8 - with X even without swap
Feel free to test yourself using rc8 livecd from dev.gentoo.org/~pvdabeel 
This livecd is not X enabled, but can be used to install one. I have an X livecd at home , will be online soon
