Description manuels 2008-06-04 13:27:38 UTC
I'm trying to convert a dvi to pdf with /usr/bin/dvipdf (a script that uses /usr/bin/dvips.
I've tried app-text/tetex-3.0_p1-r6 (which includes dvips v5.95b) and app-text/texlive-2007-r3 (which includes dvips v5.96b) but the included eps images in my .dvi file are neither rotated nor scaled (I'm using \includegraphics[angle=-90,width=10cm]).
(dvips output attached)

When I open the .dvi file with kdvi-3.5.9 there aren't scaled or rotated, too.

On Suse 10.2 (with dvips v5.96) it works.

Has anybody any ideas?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create dvi file with /usr/bin/latex
2. run dvipdf

Actual Results:
Images are shown in their "real" size and orientation.

Expected Results:
Images should be scaled and rotated.

ahh,
as a workaround you can use

\package{graphicx}

instead of

\package[dvipdf]{graphicx}.

From my point of view there _should_ be no reason that you must not use
\package[dvipdf]{graphicx}

small question: did you try to compile your latex file under opensuse and run the dvipdf command on gentoo and vice versa ?

here dvipdf.def uses pdf specials for rotating/scaling, and dvipdf (which is provided by ghostscript here btw) calls dvips, which doesn't understand the pdf specials (which I'd say is normal).

Did you try also dvipdfm ? (with the dvipdfm option of course)
