There is a bug in SUN JVM when trying to print from any java application to cups > 1.3.3. This is confirmed upstream both for cups (see http://www.cups.org/str.php?L2610) and SUN JVM (see http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6633656).
A fix is available in the beta release of Java SE 6 Update 10 Build 23 (see http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javase/java6u10/index.html). Is there any way to get this beta in the ~arch tree?
