This webcam software was specifically designed for the linux-uvc webcam driver and seems to work beautifully for it.

Upstream seems to be gone. Will close this as WONTFIX in 30 days unless it turns out it is still alive somewhere and there is user interest in adding it to the tree, in which case do let us know here.
