rc7 only locates /dev/hda (cd-rom) This makes an installation impossible since I cannot mount my hds. mac-fdisk /dev/hdx (x=c...z) claims that "there's no such device". rc6 locates /dev/hda (my first hdd), /dev/hdc (my cd-rom) and /dev/hde (my second hdd)
kain: could this be a kernel issue?
Could you tell us what hardware is in your machine? pvdabeel: I think we need modules for more of the IDE/SCSI cards in the kernel. Could you toss me the .config you're using again?
Hardware: PowerMac G3 (b&w rev1) with stock 6 GB HD attached to the built-in IDE controller plus Maxtor 80GB hd attached to a Sonnet Tempo ATA66 PCI-card.
Sonnet Tempo ata66 card is also based on the promise controller chipsets, likely is missing from the config as I mentioned in another bug
the .config and ppc livecd scripts are on my homepage: http://cvs.gentoo.org/~pvdabeel/ I'll try to enable as much stuff as possible (that shouldn't hurt I hope). Kainz: eugenia from osnews reported to me that her 12"pbs videocard worked fine on YDL, but she needed to use fb on gentoo livecd. Can this be solved by using the very latest kernel-patches - note to self: check what patches YDL kernel is using? I think I can have a new livecd with improved kernel by next monday/tuesday.
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_AEC62XX=y is in the latest .config from the rc8 livecd available from my homepage on dev.gentoo.org I'll have a full kde and gnome livecd with a kernel based on this config available soon
