While doing some performance testing for various kernels using X windows I noticed that the xfree-drm ebuild removes any previous installations. IE, if I compile it for /lib/2.4.20-ck7 it removes the version I had previous compiled for /lib/2.4.20-wolk. This is kind of annoying; at least for me. I didn't see a reason for why this is done in the changelog or the ebuild itself and I can't personally think of one since most people at least keep their old kernel around till they're sure the new one works properly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
This is annoying -- unfortunately, it is not something that xfree-drm does -- it's something portage does. Sending this to Nick, though I'm sure it's a duplicate of quite a handful of similar bugs.
please provide #emerge info
This problem has been fixed in recent portage.
