Description Murray Smigel 2002-04-29 12:04:44 UTC
Hi,
I tried setting BUILD_PREFIX="/work/tmp" in /etc/make.conf. When I emerge a program, it makes the
proper temp directory, but fails (permission error) to make the corresponding work directory. I am
running as root and it did make the temp directory, so I am somewhat puzzled. I have gone back to
using the default /var/tmp location, but this would be a problem on a system with a rather smaller
/ partition then I have built (the 2nd time around!) Anyway, Gentoo is really nice.

Thanks,
murray smigel

I think I know what is causing this. Can you paste the actual permission error
output? That would help.

This appears to be fixed as of Portage 2.0.4 (and probably much earlier)
