on booting liveCD (livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2-r1.iso) a lot of /lib/modules/2.6.24-gentoo-r5/modules.dep doesnt exists errors occur. XALSA fails to load and X server fails to start. 


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1 boot from livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2-r1.iso
2.
3.

Actual Results:  
drops to command line. 
X server , ALSA and NICs dont start 

Expected Results:  
live CD to install from

I ran into the same thing on both the 2008.0-beta-r2 livedvd and livecd.  Since modules.dep isn't present, none of the scanned for modules load.

I'm not criticizing here:  I am curious how this version could be released with this error.  It's failed the same way on 4 different machines, so I imagine it has to fail for everyone.  

Seems this should be elevated to critical.

This should be fixed in 2008.0, which is now released.
