Feature request to have x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.08 disable TurboCache. Please see the attached link to Gentoo Discussion Forums. The 10th message in the thread presents a patch to the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.08-pkg0.tgz driver. At present only Microsoft Windows users are able to disable TurboCache; via the Windows registry "RMDisableRenderToSysMem" entry. The patch described in my forum message allows Linux users to do the same. The patch could be added as an option to the x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.08 ebuild. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Patch the the nv-kernel.o binary blob as described in my forum message. 2. Rebuild the nvidia driver, reload it, and restart X.Org. 3. Observe in /var/log/Xorg.0.log that the NVIDIA X.Org Video Driver reported memory usage now excludes TurboCache.

Sorry, I'm not willing to add patches to this ebuild that are not sanctioned by upstream. Please suggest them to nVidia instead, on the nvnews.net forums.
