the fix was applied to the unstable gtkam-0.1.10, could you please try emerging that using : ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge gtkam because it pulls in some upgraded dependencies that are also in unstable like libgphoto2 and gphoto2. please let me know how it goes, because i want to bump those to stable.
Yep, that fixed it. However, I keep getting weird errors trying to access my camera using gtkam. It autodetects my DC220 fine, but when I click on it in the cameras list, it reports "could not list folders in "/"". Then I get nothing, no thumbnails, nothing. Same thing happens with digikam. However, using "gphoto -P" to download the pics on the commandline works fine.
Whoops, forgot to mention that gphoto from the commandline reports that it's downloading from folder "/DC220_03".

Erm, unless we're doing something on this bug about the "no accessing my DC220" issue, we might as well close this, since it appears to be fixed. I'd do it, except that Bugzilla won't let me. :P
yep, the rpm problem is fixed indeed. i'll be marking those as stable soon. as for your problem with gtkam, if you like, please open another bug about it so we can track it better.
