The current LiveCD/InstallCD livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2-r1.iso does not support a builtin gigabit ethernet controller "Broadcom Corp. NetXtreme BCM5788". The necessary module "tg3" is not available on the release. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. no network after boot 2. lsmod -> shows no module tg3 3. modprobe tg3 -> "FATAL: No module tg3 found"
Confirmed with livedvd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2.iso on a Dell 1420 w/ "Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5906M Fast Ethernet PCI Express" which the tg3 driver supports.
It should be noted that zcat /proc/config.gz | grep -i TIGON when booted into the LiveDVD results in CONFIG_TIGON3=m and yet the module is definitely not on the disc.
Confirming that install-x86-minimal-2008.0_beta2.iso does NOT have this issue. livedvd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2.iso *does* obviously still have this issue.
This should be fixed in 2008.0, which is now released.
