Not true at all. What Tuomo complained about was applying a patch that caused lua to no longer provide deprecated functions/structures. Well, you can switch that back on with a simple USE="deprecated" emerge -v1 lua. I also plan to commit a -r2 with EAPI="1" and deprecated set to default.
Not true at all??? If one don't know he have to use the flag "deprecated" and try to use ion3 it will just fail. May be if ion3 still using these deprecated functions, it's they are not so deprecated. So your project for the -r2 version with deprecated by default seem a good compromise. I will wait for that. deprecated was enabled by default long time ago and it's already in the stable tree, so this is fixed.
