after an install (no additional packages selected) of the livecd 2008.0 beta2 for amd64: grub fails with "error 17"

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install from scratch
2. reboot
3.

Actual Results:
grub hangs with "error 17"

Expected Results:
boot

after rebooting with the livecd i tried to reinstall by hand, it failed because with "libncurses.so not found"

rebooting with the i686 livecd and reinstalling grub helped

It would help if you could tell us what your partition layout is and attach your /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/grub.conf.
Comment 2 August Hörandl 2008-05-19 20:33:21 UTC
the disk had the following partions

/dev/sda1 is an extended partition
/dev/sda5 is / (xfs)
/dev/sda6 is swap
/dev/sda7 is /home (xfs)

/dev/sda5 has the boot flag set

The installer is deprecated.
