I opened http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13204. There, I dropped a patch. This patch may not be 100% correct, however without it, wave output with wine alsa driver is completely broken, while using pulseaudio. There's only silence. You have to use oss driver and run it through padsp to have sound. At this time I can't tell whether Wine accepts the patch or rejects it, but if any pulseaudio people on this bugzilla could test it, I would like to know if it works for you. Also, I'd like to know if it breaks anything for non-pulseaudio people.
unfortunately, until a Gentoo wine maintainer steps up, we dont have the resources to track external patches
