My Distfiles dir is located on a Samba Share that is mounted upon boot. When running a emerge -uf world everything get's checked but some files constantly fail. Mozilla Source 1.3.0 and X430src-3.tgz get downloaded and told to be ok, next time i run the same command the files get downloaded again and named: X430src-3.tgz.1 or the old ones get deleted and the new ones get correct names. This does not happen every time but very frequently. I don't know wether this is a bug or not but it's very troublesome to download the 31Meg Mozilla source over and over again...
this is an issue with the samba share ... ive seen it before on my own machines ... try re-mounting the share ... running sync ... calculate the md5sum on the server ... d/l the file on the remote server ... etc ... if you have 2 machines and they're both linux, i'd highly suggest moving over to ntfs ... you will see a nice performance boost and wont have the annoying file permission mangling ...
i've no idea what im supposed to do with this.
I dont know why this happens :( Im afraid Im just not going to have much time to debug it, as it were. Still happens?
our bugzilla is messed up.
