Description Adam 2003-06-02 21:02:08 UTC
I know there is another resolved post for this, but I am running the most
current version of GPM according to portage, and it will freeze my machine after
I close an x-session. I am unable to switch terminals, input information, move
the mouse, or even toggle keys like numlock. I'm running gpm-1.20.0-5. I am
sort of a newbie and not sure where to check logs, or even know if they would
exist being that the machine just completely froze.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
For me its just start an x-session and close.
Actual Results:
Machine complete froze and became unresponcive.

Expected Results:
Continued to run gpm, and be able to input information.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I was running Gnome as my desktop manager for X, and all other programs had been closed before I quit X.
Comment 2 Adam 2003-06-05 20:34:40 UTC
I just tried to start it random after I booted, and it crashed my comp. Completly frozen.

can you do this for me

cd /usr/portage/sys-libs/gpm/
emerge gpm-1.20.1.ebuild

then restart gpm
/etc/init.d/gpm restart

and try it out for me, I would like to see if the newest gpm works for you. Let me know :-)

Adam .. ??? is this still a problem?
Comment 5 Adam 2003-07-01 09:52:28 UTC
Sorry, the problem is still there...

Sorry, I guess I could provide more infomation. I am using a PS2 3 button, scrollwheel mouse, and the uncommented lines of my /etc/conf.d/gpm are
'MOUSE=ps2
MOUSEDEV=/dev/psaux'
I have all APPEND lines commented.
My mouse drivers are not compiled as modules, but built into the kernel.
Comment 6 Adam 2003-07-30 10:12:07 UTC
Sorry for taking so long, I uninstalled it, b/c it kept crashing and forgot about this thread. I relized that my mouse is an IMPS/2, not PS/2. I made the correct changes in my conf file and now its fixed. Sorry about that :-[ *user problem* :-[ Maybe there should be some kind of protection against stupid people like me or something.

Ok well.. I will and comment to /etc/conf.d/gpm configuration script and call this bug fixed. Thanx for the feedback.
