After upgrading from abiword-1.0.5 to abiword-1.0.6 the /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts directory is 
gone and abiword-1.0.6 refuses to start.

i don't see this behaviour.

Please rebuild abiword , use the 1.0.6-r1 ebuild.

I solved my problem by unemerging abiword-1.0.5 and emerging abiword-1.0.6 
afterwards. Unfortunately I gave the computer away some days ago, so I can't try to 
reproduce the behaviour on the affected machine. I tried a different one, but that one 
worked. 
 
When I encountered the problem, it looked like 1.0.5 removed the fonts when 
uninstalling at the end of the 1.0.6 emerge process. If the bug is not reproducable, I 
think, we should close this bug.

fonts should be removed at the end alright, but 1.0.5 shouldnt uninstall 1.0.6 ones.
