I'm unable to browse AD-Shares, because gvfs isn't asking me for a user/pass. But it is possible to access shares, if I type it in (not borwsing), then gvfs asks me for auth and everything works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open nautilus 2. navigate to an AD Server 3. Actual Results: no shares are shown Expected Results: asked for authentication & shares get listed There is an upstream bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524485 And a patch at launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/207072/comments/7
Created attachment 152585 [details, diff] adds authentication for browsing windows shares patch from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/207072/comments/7 thanks to darkrain42!
Created attachment 152587 [details] added the fix-smbbrowse.patch to the 0.2.3.ebuild from tree Works like a charm (here)
That patch is _big_. I'd rather wait for upstream to approve this bug, or even release a new gvfs tarball. Thanks for providing the patch and an ebuild, if others desperately need it, they can put it in an overlay. Thanks
There's stuff committed to trunk now. I guess we could consider backporting that beast to 1.0.x
Created attachment 180230 [details, diff] gvfs-smb-browse-auth.patch This is the patch backported to opensuse, but I cannot test it, maybe reporter would be able to do it ;-)
Built gvfs-1.0.3 with the fix-smbbrowse patch. Can't say if it is really fixed. Now it get "Failed to retrieve share list from server" which is better than before (no message at all), but still no authentication request. So it's not fixed from my point of view. At least not with 1.0.3. But upstream they metioned that a fix will be included in 1.1.x.
Oh! Maybe i ran into http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=568851 But further investigatio has to wait till next week.
Per upstream bug report, this should be fixed with 1.2* (current stable is 1.2.3) OK with closing this one?
assuming fixed per comment #8. Please reopen if it's not the case with >=gvfs-1.2
