Just brought an rsync server online and would like to get listed. Hopefully soon I can convince the boss man to let me put a Gentoo distfiles mirror online as well. We shall see. Server: rsync.knalb.org (12.96.164.239) Contact: Me (Zane W. knalb@knalb.org) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
The last rsync was "Tue, 03 Jun 2003 03:30:00 +0000" and should have been 04:00. Can you check for errors and confirm that ntp is running? Thanks.
Ntp, was not actually running, it is now. I did not see any errors though, so the time may have just been off. Started update at Mon Jun 2 23:30:00 CDT 2003 End: Mon Jun 2 23:30:12 CDT 2003 Started update at Tue Jun 3 00:00:00 CDT 2003 End: Tue Jun 3 00:00:16 CDT 2003 Started update at Tue Jun 3 00:30:00 CDT 2003 End: Tue Jun 3 00:30:47 CDT 2003 Started update at Tue Jun 3 01:00:01 CDT 2003 End: Tue Jun 3 01:00:10 CDT 2003
I've added 12.96.164.239 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation. Also, I'd like to verify the upstream connection, max users, cpu and RAM. Thanks.
Ok, my cron has been updated. As for the connection, its a 100mbit port plugged into a GIGE Level3 pipe at The Planet in Dallas, TX. The machine is a lowly AMD 900, with 128mb of ram. I'll actually be dropping another 128mb stick, or a single 512 that I have in, within the next couple of days when I get back to work. I currently have the concurrent users limited to 10.
12.96.164.239 is now rsync16.us.gentoo.org. As soon as DNS catches up, you should start seeing some traffic. I've subscribed <knalb@knalb.org> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
