The attached patch fixes symlinks to point to gnuconfig files within Gentoo Prefix and not to (potentially non-existing) system files.

Quite a good catch.  Thank you very much!  I applied it, and revbumped 2.2.4, such that people should get your fix.  Thanks again, what an oversight!

FYI: It appears that this patch fixed bug 220917 AND bug 220831 which I thought were libtool-2 issues but they haven't been touched since your patch went in. So..thanks again!
