Can't create filesystem in a file. mkfs.ext3 <filename> crashed after saying <y> in dialog Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge e2fsprogs-1.40.9 2.dd if=/dev/zero of=root bs=1M seek=4095 count=1 3.mkfs.ext3 root Expected Results: Should create a Filesystem No error message was shown.

you still didnt post `emerge --info` even though we explicitly asked for it you should also try running with LC_ALL=C and see if that affects things

heh, it's because of translation work ... the german translator for e2fsprogs made it so you have to enter J/N (for Ja/Nein) instead of Y/N (for Yes/No) so if you type 'j' at the prompt, it should work fine
should be fixed in recent versions
