ppc-sources is currently up to 2.4.21! there _is no 2.4.21 release_ yet, so this

This kernel is from the latest benh source, which at the time was called. 2.4.21-rc3-ben0.

When 2.4.21 actually gets realeased, the next gentoo-ppc kernel will probably be ppc-sources-2.4.21-r2.

The Gentoo Linux Development Policy tells to name those ebuilds with _pre or _rc. So it should have been named 2.4.21_rc3 (according to benh's rc3). Portage knows that these names are "lower" than without suffix or with -r# suffixes.
