Description Alex Barker 2008-05-05 19:13:52 UTC
After updating to 2.3.1-r3 form r2 I can no longer launch eclipse with eclipse-3.2 -vmargs -Xms256m -Xmx256m -XX:PermSize=64m -XX:MaxPermSize=64m and I am experiencing out of memory errors.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Update eclipse
2.run eclipse-3.2 -vmargs -Xms256m -Xmx256m -XX:PermSize=64m -XX:MaxPermSize=64m

Actual Results:
Error dialog is produced:

JVM terminated. Exit code=1
/usr/bin/java
-Xms256m
-Xmx256m
-XX:PermSize=64m
-XX:MaxPermSize=64m
-vmargs
-jar /usr/lib/eclipse-3.2/startup.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-launcher /usr/lib/eclipse-3.2/eclipse
-name Eclipse
-showsplash 600
-exitdata 1cd000e
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms256m
-Xmx256m
-XX:PermSize=64m
-XX:MaxPermSize=64m
-vmargs
-jar /usr/lib/eclipse-3.2/startup.jar

Expected Results:
Application launch.

I can get eclipse to start by removing the vmargs however i run out of memory. This can probably attributed to this new ebuild not updating my kde menu.

So restricting Eclipse to this low amount of memory obviously doesn't cut it (anymore).

Make sure you have a lot more memory available for this application.
