When I run the graphical installer from 2008.0_beta2 on amd64, it reaches the "Installing additional packages" dialog then nothing changes on the screen - no progress bar and the dialog doesn't go away after several hours of waiting (on Core 2 2.13GHz, running vmware). After a while "ps ax" does not show any new activity. If I remove the CD and reboot into the new installation it appears to be OK except certain config files are incorrect (eg /etc/fstab and on some attempts /etc/conf.d/{domainname,hostname} needed to be set up manually). It wasn't actually stopping here. The progress bar just wasn't being updated. This is fixed in SVN.
