Hi!

Please find attached xmms-coverviewer-0.1.8.tgz containing xmms-coverviewer-0.1.8.ebuild

CoverViewer is a plugin for xmms which looks for images stored in the same directory as the played file, or in a special directory (in this case, it searches "artist*album*.jpg", where artist and album are taken from the tag (support id3v1, id3v2 and oggs))

Images can be whatever you want (for example, a slideshow from your holidays), but at first I made this with album covers in mind. If no image is found and tags are well documented (ie, you have artist and album), a script can try to get the image from amazon (it's a python script, easily configurable, the default one working quite well) and save it for future use.

The current version is 0.1.8, I think it's quite stable now... I'm new to gentoo, I installed it on my system using the ebuild, and it seems to work.

I suggest media-plugins/xmms-coverviewer
CoverViewer depends on xmms, gdkpixbuf and gtk1.2

Eric

Please re-attach ebuild as plain text. Thanks.

Ebuild in plain text

The internet script is in python, so if you want to use it, you should install
python... But since it's just on option, I did'nt add it in the ebuid as a
dependency. Perhap's I should add a commentary at the end of the install to
tell the user?

It should probably be a local use flag so that we don't install the script if the flag isn't set.

Works well :) Now if it would only work for songs that are being streamed ala shoutcast. I think even the RIAA would like that. :)

media-plugins/xmms-coverviewer-0.1.9 has been added to portage.

Please let me know how it works for you.

Works fine here...
I'm working on 0.1.10, it has a lot of bugfix/new featetures I think.
How do I add the new ebuild? Just signal it here? create another ebuild?...

Changelog so far:
Test on covers : only valid images are loaded
Start to work on streams (shoutcast/icecast) and files without album info (try to guess it from artist/title with gracenote, or freedb)
Created a script for Amazon.fr and Cdcover.nl
Work on Internet search (save images from all sites or only the first one, choose order of search...)
The program waits that all covers are downloaded before displaying anything.
Advanced search is now available when normal (auto or manual) search has failed.
Created some lockfile (in coverdir) to avoid looking 1000 times for the same file over and over. If no file is found, try advanced search.

xmms-coverviewer-0.1.10pre1.ebuild

I've released a pre-release of version 0.1.10
I think the previous ebuild should work ok...
