If you build again, does it fail in the same line?
Dear John, please re-open when you've provided information requested in previous comment. Note that internal compiler errors are usually caused by faulty and/or overclocked hardware, so it might be a good idea to run memtest or a CPU torture application when the emerge dies at random points.
