reason for this big reports i because i cant compile some cvs based stuff now
because autoconf is so old.
i know the ebuild is big but would be great if we could come up a cuple of
revisions.

The old ebuild (renamed for 1.7.5) seems to work ok, only the patch needed a slight update.

The current ebuild that is "blessed" for release to x86 is still 1.7.2, which is  incompatible with autoconf 2.57-r1.  "aclocal" in 1.7.2 comments out the critical macro AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE.  autoconf will complain.
