Hello! It would be great, if CONFIG_UID16 would be activted for the Minimal CD. It is needed, to installed an uclibc stage. Without is, you are getting errors.
What is it for and what errors are you getting?
Hello! Accoring to the Gentoo Forums, this is a workaround. I really don't know for what this is good. Its only suggested on the gentoo forums, that you need a live cd with CONFIG_UID16 support. I tested this for myself. A liveCD with enabled CONFIG_UID16 works. (tried LFS LiveCD) If its not enabled you get this error, when you try to chroot onto the new uclibc stage 3 environment. livecd / # chroot /mnt/gentoo/ /bin/bash I have no name!@livecd / $ emerge Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 27, in ? import portage File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 98, in ? from portage_data import ostype, lchown, userland, secpass, uid, wheelgid, \ File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage_data.py", line 83, in ? if secpass < 1 and portage_gid in os.getgroups(): OSError: [Errno 38] Function not implemented
What's the URL to the forums post? Do you have any more information you're going to make us beg for? :P
I found this: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-545201-highlight-uclibc.html which gave me the hint with CONFIG_UID16 That's all :D Theres is also maybe a second workaround (not tested for myself) http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-667061-highlight-uclibc.html
Ah, forget to say :P The Links, which i posted are talking about older versions (like 2006.1). Ofcourse this also aplies to the 2008_beta stages.
Is this still needed / relevant?
I don't need it anymore, as it was relevant for stage1-install. But stage1-install is not supported anymore ;)
(In reply to comment #7) > I don't need it anymore, as it was relevant for stage1-install. But > stage1-install is not supported anymore ;) Thanks for your bug report and my apologies for us taking so long to react to it. I'm closing this bug per your comment.
