Description Marchelly 2008-04-30 10:09:53 UTC
User1 login starts X (kde 3.5.9). Works great.
User2 push "change user" in User1 session and login. Everything works from 1 to 10 minutes, every situation time from login to crash differs from ~1 to ~10 minutes. Then suddenly session of User1 crash with no logs. Only in /var/log/messages (see above). Session of User2 doesn't crash. To switch it we need only press Ctrl+Alt+F8.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in user1
2. Log in user2
3. Crash

Actual Results:
User1 session suddenly crashs

Expected Results:
We log in as many users as needed all the time with no crash

Comment 3 Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-30 18:28:56 UTC
This is a bug in all nvidia-drivers newer than version 100.14.19. If you need more information, please refer to

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=104881

Either downgrade to nvidia-drivers-100.14.19 or don't run more than one X-session at once.
Comment 4 Marchelly 2008-04-30 21:02:41 UTC
This is not suggestion. Suggestion is to fix nvidia-drivers, xorg-server, etc.
Comment 5 Lars Wendler (Polynomial-C) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-05-01 00:37:44 UTC
There's nothing about nvidia-drivers, Gentoo is able to fix as long as nvidia decides to keep their drivers closed-source. Bug nvidia if you want fixed drivers.
There's no need to fix anything with xorg concerning this bug. The bug is in nvidia-drivers and nvidia is the only institution who can fix it.
