Description Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-27 20:58:26 UTC
First I observed that lt-query-test runs forever (up to 16 hours, once, using as much CPU as it can get), and when killed -9, the system stopped responding.

I once observer lt-server-auth-test starting curl before it hung the system.

Failure occurs with both -O2 and -O0 in C*FLAGS.

elmer /mnt/alt/portage-tmp/portage/net-libs/libsoup-2.4.1/work/libsoup-2.4.1/tes
ts # ./query-test
query-test: OK
* elmer /mnt/alt/portage-tmp/portage/net-libs/libsoup-2.4.1/work/libsoup-2.4.1/tes
ts # ./server-auth-test <-- hangs immediately

In net-libs/libsoup-2.4.0, it hangs after lt-query-test runs OK:

query-test: OK
PASS: query-test
[<the great void>]

I'm sure it's a bug in libsoup triggering a kernel bug. I'll try FEATURES=userpriv next.
Comment 3 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-27 22:15:30 UTC
Ouch, even a mere user can trigger the hang.
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-30 23:07:15 UTC
The problem seems to have gone away with newer kernel versions. Marking as fixed accordingly. I hope to one day report back with the reason this was happening, and what fix in the kernel fixed this issue as well.
