Description Marios Andreopoulos 2008-04-27 14:51:00 UTC
The latest testing version of mplayer (1.0_rc2_p26454-r2) crashes when I try to open a dvd or a file with ac3 audio.

I have this problem on both my machines, one running x86 Gentoo, the other running amd64 Gentoo.

Unfortunately the output of mplayer is on my language (Greek) and I don't know how to switch mplayer's output language so I'll try to translate the exact output referring to the crash:

----------------------------------------------------------
Open audio decoder: [liba52] AC3 decoding with liba52
Using SSE optimized IMDCT transform

Mplayer was terminated by SIG 11 at module: init_audio_codec
----------------------------------------------------------

Sorry but I can't imagine what other information would possibly be helpful. Just ask for anything you may need.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="a52" emerge =mplayer-1.0_rc2_p26454-r2
2. Try to open with mplayer a file or dvd with multichannel (5.1) audio. Note that usually is the main feature of a DVD the one with 5.1 audio. Thus mplayer won't crash during the menus or extras but only if you try the movie.

Actual Results:
mplayer crashes with:

Open audio decoder: [liba52] AC3 decoding with liba52
Using SSE optimized IMDCT transform

Mplayer was terminated by SIG 11 at module: init_audio_codec

I'm getting same error with:
media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p26753
media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p26454-r2

Following version doesn't crash:
media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p26300-r1

There is upstream bug report
http://bugzilla.mplayerhq.hu/show_bug.cgi?id=1055

Upstream bug was closed as RESOLVED, FIXED and we have a snapshot in stable / or going into stable stamped 20090731.

No point in keeping this open anymore.
