Description Gerhard Lehmann 2008-04-26 17:02:52 UTC
After one successful install on another system with the same liveCD, I tried a second install on this system.
Me I am a newbie to Gentoo, but experienced to Linux since 1988? 1989? with different distributions.

after booting up the cd and after created filesystems (ext2 or ext3) short time after 'mount /dev/hdb5 /mnt' and pinning 'ls -l /mnt' I get 'command not found' Ten seconds later: '/usr/sbin/spind: line 10: /bin/sleep: No such file or directory.
This repeats forever on this console.
After Change to another one with Alt-F2 no command is recognized. "Command not found"

Medium: livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta1.iso
System: AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Harddisk /dev/hda WDC WD400EB ATA DISK
/dev/hdb SAMSUNG SP2514N ATA DISK
Mem: 514MB

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot up LiveCD
2. Make filesystem on harddisk (ext2 or ext3)
3. mount with: mount /dev/hd[abc][1234] /mnt

and type something.

You get (ls for example): command not found
and after a short time the failure described above.

Actual Results:
no installation possible on this system

Expected Results:
repeating line with content described.

after mounting I would have copied the install-files to this filesystem
Comment 1 Gerhard Lehmann 2008-04-26 17:41:45 UTC
my error: please forgive me.

if I mount a device over my existing system, then the message: command not found is correct.

After mounting on /mnt/gentoo and not /mnt the system runs smoothly so far.

Please delete this bugmessage!
