There exist already many profiles here is a suggestion for another. VPS or hosted. This profile has several special things about it. No real need for /etc/init.d/net.eth0 and friends. Metalog and sysklogd both have unneeded components. the kernel logger. This is handled by the vserver or host. And metalog is reported to fail startup. No need for the kernel in 'system' or 'world'. With the new wave of maturing CMS systems(Content Management Systems) Wordpress, Drupal, e107, webmin, et al. My preferred method of updating once installed would be something like glsa-check -f affected. But anyone running a 'live' server likely is performing updates somewhere else and testing for breakage first. As some has(ve) noted before FEATURES="test" needs to be default IMO anyway I'd like to see LAMP be the default. Then if you don't want one of them use USE flags to remove the unneeded one(s) Need to be able to boot with 'shutdown -r now' As of now this is not working for me. There is already a bug about this againsty the vserver profile. AFAIK there is no current overlay for this. I did check. It is heartening to see Gentoo's efforts with OpenVZ and XEN. How about something to profile the virtuals? Reproducible: Always
