Some questions to make this a little more clear to me:

- You intend to use G15 output?
- Do you have a new (orange) or old (blue) g15?
- Is g15daemon running?
- Is LCDd running?
- The failure happens explicitly when starting lcdproc?
- Did you edit either LCDd.conf or lcdproc.conf?

What do you mean by that? Does it happen with self-compiled lcdproc, too?

no, i build lcdproc under /tmp and worked, applied the patch from the ebuild manually to the sources, rebuild and it didnt work anymore
commented the epatch on the ebuild, emerged lcdproc and did not work neither :|

> - You intend to use G15 output?
yes

> - Do you have a new (orange) or old (blue) g15?
a new one, orange

> - Is g15daemon running?
yes

> - Is LCDd running?
yes (i see the client 0 on the screen)

> - The failure happens explicitly when starting lcdproc?
almost a second after a screen flashes on the display

> - Did you edit either LCDd.conf or lcdproc.conf?
yes, used defaultt and edited...

i also tryed gdb lcdproc, but dit now show anything

lcdproc[17118] general protection rip:404275 rsp:7fffe0f1b130 error:0
indicates that it's a bug in the client, not the LCDd or g15daemon.

so please try getting some sane backtrace to help tracking this.
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml has some info on how to get those
Comment 8 Robert Buchholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-12 17:08:37 UTC
Please reopen if you can provide a usable backtrace, or contact upstream (via the lcdproc mailing list).
