config.log

In the config.log, there's:

configure:4726: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -E conftest.c
conftest.c:10:28: error: ac_nonexistent.h: No such file or directory
configure:4733: $? = 1
configure: failed program was:
| /* confdefs.h. */
| #define PACKAGE_NAME "xfce4-systemload-plugin"
| #define PACKAGE_TARNAME "xfce4-systemload-plugin"
| #define PACKAGE_VERSION "0.4.2"
| #define PACKAGE_STRING "xfce4-systemload-plugin 0.4.2"
| #define PACKAGE_BUGREPORT "http://bugzilla.xfce.org/"
| #define PACKAGE "xfce4-systemload-plugin"
| #define VERSION "0.4.2"
| /* end confdefs.h. */
| #include <ac_nonexistent.h>

So, I guess that it failed becaue "ac_nonexistent.h" could not be found.

Hm.

At or around line 4950 of configure, there's:

XDT_I18N(ca cs de eu fr gl hu ko lt nl pl pt_BR sv uk vi zh_TW)

XDT_CHECK_PACKAGE(GTK, gtk+-2.0, 2.6.0)
XDT_CHECK_PACKAGE(LIBXFCE4UTIL, libxfce4util-1.0, 4.3.99.1)
XDT_CHECK_PACKAGE(LIBXFCEGUI4, libxfcegui4-1.0, 4.3.99.1)
XDT_CHECK_PACKAGE(LIBXFCE4PANEL, libxfce4panel-1.0, 4.3.99.1)

This doesn't look like valid shell code to me. This would also pretty much explain the message:

./configure: line 4950: syntax error near unexpected token `ca'
./configure: line 4950: `XDT_I18N(ca cs de eu fr gl hu ko lt nl pl pt_BR sv uk
vi zh_TW)'

Question: How did those lines get into the configure script? There's nothing like this in the original configure script.
Comment 5 Alexander Skwar 2008-04-25 09:25:34 UTC
It's not autoconf-2.62 related. I downgraded to autoconf-2.61-r1 and still have that problem.

From the build log:
!!! Please attach the following file when seeking support:
!!! /Gentoo/Portage/build/portage/xfce-extra/xfce4-systemload-0.4.2/work/xfce4-systemload-plugin-0.4.2/config.log

Could you attach the config.log as well, please?
Comment 7 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-25 15:54:45 UTC
flameeyes, xfce packages are using M4 macros from xfce4-dev-tools, so we need to run:

AT_M4DIR=/usr/share/xfce4/dev-tools/m4macros eautoreconf

and DEPEND="xfce-extra/xfce4-dev-tools"

and also: intltoolize --force --copy --automake || die "intltoolize failed."

for

ossible unintended interpolation of @INTLTOOL_ICONV in string at ../intltool-merge line 96.
Global symbol "@INTLTOOL_ICONV" requires explicit package name at ../intltool-merge line 96.
BEGIN not safe after errors--compilation aborted at ../intltool-merge line 263.

please ACK that you don't commit to xfce-extra without testing anymore.

I tested unpack for all the autoconf 2.62 bugs I've committed to, it didn't fail here after the change.

At any rate, I'll take this into consideration, sorry for the problem.

ah.. that's because it failed during src_compile() when running econf
