After the upgrade to 3.0.5.2, the CLI refuses to start. In ~/.azureus/gentoo.config, I have the line: UI="console" as I've had for a very long time. When I run "azureus", I get usage information instead of azureus starting. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. set UI="console" in ~/.azureus/gentoo.config 2. run "azureus" Actual Results: $ azureus using /home/p2p/.azureus/gentoo.config Usage : java org.gudy.azureus2.cl.Main [parameters] "file.torrent" "save path" --maxUploads : Max number of simultaneous uploads --maxSpeed : Max upload speed in KBytes/sec Expected Results: Azureus starts in CLI mode. # Have just done some checking into this, because the lack of a console UI (and thus the need to run X in order to have a daemonized Azureus) vastly annoys me. The first clue was that it was calling cl.Main, and not the usual console client. Digging through /usr/bin/azureus dished out this diff: -- 75a76,78 > [[ ${UI} == swt ]] && UI=ui.swt > [[ ${UI} == console ]] && UI=cl > 78c81 < gjl_main="org.gudy.azureus2.ui.common.Main" --- > gjl_main="org.gudy.azureus2.${UI}.Main" 80d82 < gjl_pkg_args="--ui=${UI}" -- Essentially, if you set the client to use UI = console, it's going to use UI=cl instead. I don't know why you'd do this; CL is some sort of single file downloader. I assume whoever patched the azureus loader must've chosen cl because a ui.cl.Main exists; there is no ui.console.Main in 3.0.5.2. Anyway, it's 3am where I am now so I'm off to sleep, but hopefully this sets someone more familiar with Azureus than I am on the right track to finding a solution :).
I just upgraded to net-p2p/azureus-3.1.1.0 and this problem still exists.
(In reply to comment #7) > I just upgraded to net-p2p/azureus-3.1.1.0 and this problem still exists. > Same here.
I have the same problem on 3.1.1.0
I (finally) filed the bug upstream: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2101341&group_id=84122&atid=575154
Hi, I got this working by using the /usr/bin/azureus script from the 3.0.2.4-r1 build. It's a workaround until somone fixes the ebuild (or whatever has to be done). I have no idea why it was changed to begin with, but using the old script allowed me to run 3.1.1.0. On a side note: I normally use the init script from http://gentoo-wiki.com/Azureus but this requires setting JAVA_OPTIONS to a specific string in the gentoo.config file in the azureus home dir. After upgrading and replacing the azureus script with the old one, I could run azureus from the console, but my init script stopped working (somehow java gets killed somewhere after writing the pid file) - so I cleared the JAVA_OPTIONS (empty string), and switched to the other init file from that wiki (the screen way), and that works for me :) Hope it helps someone.
Created attachment 166347 [details, diff] patch for /usr/bin/azureus script Continued from my previous post... I made a small patch to revert the azureus script to the old version.

The patch works great! Thanks so much - now let's get this into portage :-)

Fixed in 4.0.0.2 and also 3.1.1.0-r1
