At http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/about.xml Gentoo and Gentoo Linux are being mixed up. I thought it had to be officially Gentoo Linux, and not just Gentoo? Anyway - it looks a bit messily if both are used in the same document. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Err well, this one maybe wasn't a valid bug at all. Which is a valid bug though, is that the list at the end of this document is slightly outdated. It states that kde 3.1.1a is the newest version in Portage, which its not. It's kde 3.1.2 afaik. I already suggested by email not to use version numbers, or link them to the Portage tree so that they get automaticly updated in the list. It's extra work for the author to keep up, extra work for all the translaters to keep up, and it simply not right that kde 3.1.1a is the newest version around :)
I propose to make the following changes (based on Roderick's comments): Instead of specifying a KDE and GNOME version, just link to their entry in the package listing index: For KDE: http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/pkgs/kde-base/kde.xml For GNOME: http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/pkgs/gnome-base/gnome.xml This provides a quick way for any user to check what the latest available version is. Additionally, we could make a note stating that typically the latest stable KDE and GNOME version is available. Comments? If I hear no negative feedback, I'll make the proposed change in a couple of days.
Removed version numbers. Added links to portage listing.
