My screen (dell xps m1530) supports 1920x1200 resolution and works correctly with NVIDIA under RHEL5. However, under gentoo it will not support the correct resolution. Added: Option "Metamodes" "1920x1200" No affect. When configuring through nvidia-settings it ignores the given config and autodetects wrong... NV driver works fine... except it doesn't have the performance and other things break. Reproducible: Always

Note that 1920x1200 will require reduced blanking if you are using a single link DVI cable. This may in fact be the issue, as ReducedBlanking is no longer enabled by default. Please use this image to determine whether your current display cable is dual-link capable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DVI_Connector_Types.svg If not, replacing the display cable may alleviate the issue. Should that not be an option, you may want to read up on the ReducedBlanking options in the X.Org server (RHEL will be using an older variant) as described in bug #135544. Failing that, there are several new drivers for you to try: 173.14.05 173.14.09 177.13 (masked) This is very unlikely to be an nvidia-driver (or nvidia-settings) issue, and as such I am closing the bug with a test request. Do feel free to reopen the bug if these instructions do not resolve the problem, but I will need to know what DVI cable is in use and whether you are aiming to use single-link DVI with reduced blanking or dual-link DVI with regular GTF (General Timing Formula) blanking.
