Outputs of 'xine --list-plugins=video_decoder'
for xine-lib-1.1.12 built from portage ebuild:

Available xine's plugins:
   -Video decoder:
     mpeg2, gdkpixbuf, realvdec, image, theora, rgb, yuv, qtv, bitplane,
     win32v.

and for ebuild with '--with-external-ffmpeg' line removed:

Available xine's plugins:
   -Video decoder:
     mpeg2, gdkpixbuf, realvdec, ffmpegvideo, image, theora, rgb, yuv,
     bitplane, qtv, win32v, ffmpeg-wmv9, ffmpeg-wmv8.

The installed external ffmpeg version is 0.4.9_p20070616-r2.

? 1.1.12 appears to be long gone (I'm certainly not still using it). 1.1.15 + external ffmpeg works fine, yes: there's no warning on the --with-external-ffmpeg option on xine-lib's 'configure -h' anymore. So perhaps it'll never be a problem (at least with ffmpeg) again. If it (or similar) does happen again though, I'm afraid this issue and others like it have occurred often enough and with equally passive “resolutions” over the years* that I feel it'd be rather pointless me reporting them anymore anyway. :)

*For example, I noted that this xine-lib + ffmpeg problem was bound to happen (again) in a xine-lib bug report here a year or two ago.
