So perhaps it'll never be a problem (at least with ffmpeg) again. If it (or similar) does happen again though, I'm afraid this issue and others like it have occurred often enough and with equally passive “resolutions” over the years* that I feel it'd be rather pointless me reporting them anymore anyway. :) *For example, I noted that this xine-lib + ffmpeg problem was bound to happen (again) in a xine-lib bug report here a year or two ago.
