Description amadeus.bit 2008-04-19 13:46:09 UTC
For some weeks now I try to get the nvidia 169.x driver to work with Xorg and KDE, but everytime when I start kdm it is so slow that I cant do anything except killing it. Mouse moves normal. When I kill X with ctrl+backspace and xdm restarts, the problem is gone. I can use kde as usual.
atm I use nvidia-drivers-100.14.09 without any disturbance. Even after updating to xorg-server-1.4 today nothing changed

I cant find any error or warning messages in the logfiles(Xorg.0.log, kdm.log, dmesg)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge nvidia-drivers-169.12
2. restart your computer
3. start xdm and try to login

Actual Results:
I can watch X building the gui line by line

Expected Results:
being fast?

Restarting X fixes the problem temporary

You can try Gentoo forums for support, but as nvidia-drivers are binary only drivers there is nothing we can fix.
