The Gentoo LiveCD doesn't have the pata_it8213 driver installed in the kernel. On motherboards where this is the only IDE controller it makes it impossible to install Gentoo using the 2008.0 Beta 1 LiveCD from an IDE CDROM. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a motherboard that has only has an it8213 IDE controller. Here is the motherboard that I used: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813151169 2. Power up the system and try to begin the installation Actual Results: The system was unable to find the install media. Expected Results: On all the other systems that I have installed Gentoo on, the LiveCD would detect the install media and continue with the LiveCD booting resulting in a command line prompt.
I added this to SVN for 2008.0 final...
This should be fixed in 2008.0 final
