Well, I'm a VIM user and I've seen there's an app-emacs category. I think that It'd be very good to have an app-vim category with scripts from http://www.vim.org/scripts/index.php. I don't mind making some ebuilds but first I should know If you think it is a good idea to have the app-vim category. Regards, Ferdy
My first reaction is disagreement to this idea. My impression is that there are relatively few scripts that warrant being installed on a global basis. Many of them are intended to be installed as plugins, and we don't really want to install a bunch of plugins that will affect all users on the system. Are there particular scripts that you have in mind? I'd like to know more about this before going ahead with it.
Yes, i was thinking specially in: http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=520 http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=570 http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=257 http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=90 But, maybe you are right... Regards,Ferdy
I'm still thinking about this one.. Sorry for the holdup.
blah
¿?
reopening this bug to add the category app-vim and some useful plugins to that category
Ferdy, my apologies on this bug. I did not intend to close it with "blah". At the time I was intending to update a different bug! :-(
app-vim now exists. The first ebuild in there is taglist. More will follow as I can coax licensing information out of the authors...
I have added taglist. I have also written to the authors of Align, calendar, phpdocs, Gtk+, XSLT and tmpl plugins to ask under what license they've released their plugins. I shouldn't put this into Gentoo without giving them a chance to tell me the license terms. If I don't hear back from them for a long time, then I'll assume the vim license and hope that's okay.
I've also written to the authors of the cvscommand and info plugins.
align, info, and gtk-syntax are now in the tree
phpdocs is in
cvscommand, xsl, and calendar are now in. I think this is sufficient to close this bug. If you have more plugins to add, please open new bugs to cover them (and include appropriate ebuilds!) :-)
