I think you forgot to describe the actual problem. "No longer works" lacks detail. I also wonder if bugs.gentoo.org is the proper forum as long as you haven't established what exactly is wrong with the *software*.
Frankly, I don't know, but I saw the very same problem on the mailing lists here http://www.nabble.com/Ot---Problem-with-CUPS-server-td16474927.html with unfortunately no solution. What do I do to give you more info, what exact commands do I run in konsole? All I can tell you right now is that a few days ago, printing from remote machines to this one worked, after the updates of the last few days, it doesn't.
