Ever since I updated to sys-apps/baselayout-2.0.0 I haven't been able to start X with the /etc/init.d/xdm. The xdm service is listed as started in the rc-status output but no screen appears on VT7. (WW) xf86CloseConsole: KDSETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor (WW) xf86CloseConsole: VT_GETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor The correct ModulePath should be "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules" and it has always worked perfectly before the switch, even if there was no such line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but now it doesn't work _even if_ I specify it in xorg.conf. If I start X from the console with startx it works flawlessly. Closing bug as INVALID. I just noticed that I had an older xorg.conf in /root that was picked up by the X startup. It's odd, because before updating everything worked fine anyway, but removing that file solved my problem.
