When I try to emerge app-office/lyx-1.5.4 with USE="latex", app-text/tetex and app-text/texlive-core are dependencies - and they block each other. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add "latex" to the USE flags for app-office/lyx - I used package.use. 2. Make sure that app-text/noweb, app-text/texlive-core and app-text/tetex aren't installed. 3. Run `emerge -pv lyx` Actual Results: At the end of the emerge -pv output, I get this line: [blocks B ] app-text/tetex (is blocking app-text/texlive-core-2007-r12) Expected Results: I would expect that the emerge would proceed smoothly. SOME NOTES: I've noticed that it "works" if you install app-text/texlive-core *first*, and then install lyx. However, the blocking packages show up on subsequent `emerge -upvDN world` runs. $ emerge -pv lyx These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! whats pulling in tetex ? doing 'emerge texlive' before should fix this, but nothing should force tetex to be used. Or perhaps its portage using tetex as virtual/tetex; can you try 'emerge -pvt lyx' to know what wants tetex ?
turned out it was noweb depending on virtual/tetex, I switched it to tex-base and now it should be fine
