the openrc migration guide says to check /etc/timezone but that file doesn't exist. I don't know if this is a baselayout bug or a documentation bug. I created it and put Europe/Paris inside it. I hope that's what I was supposed to do.
the file is created automatically during upgrade if the information is available. if it isnt available, we cant guess at it, and thus you need to create it.
(In reply to comment #1) The information was available in the previous TIMEZONE variable. In any case, it would be useful if the migration guide could be more explicit.
Created attachment 149819 [details, diff] Describes the timezone configuration a little clearer for users
I'll get the docs team to commit my documentation change..
I can't remember the docs' alias... so Josh... it's yours.
(In reply to comment #3) nice, thanks. however, TIMEZONE was set in /etc/conf.d/clock and still the file was not created. so maybe there is a bug.
Fixed. FYI, the alias is docs-team. You could log in to 'pecker and browse the contents of our alias dir, too. :)
(In reply to comment #6) > however, TIMEZONE was set in /etc/conf.d/clock and still the > file was not created. so maybe there is a bug. Confirm, I have the same problem. What exactly should I put inside /etc/timeozne? 1) Europe/Warsaw or 2) TIMEZONE="Europe/Warsaw"
(In reply to comment #8) > What exactly should I put inside /etc/timeozne? > > 1) Europe/Warsaw yes. check the guide again: it has just been updated :-)
