texinfo fails with a lot of linker errors when I try to emerge -e world in a stage2 "install". I followed the gentoo emul package guide to set-up an chroot to create emul packages for gizmo: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/emul/index.xml But emerge -e world fails with texinfo. I tried both the old 2007.0 and 2008.0 stages.

the only time we consider stage1/stage2 issues is when it is for the release team you can root cause the problem and propose a solution which we may consider, otherwise the answer is "too bad, use a stage3"

We don't support users making their own emul packages, anyway. That document was written a long time ago with how the old packages were built. It's not updated, in any way, nor supported. We should probably remove that guide, since using it will get you packages that are *very* different than the ones we use now.
That's bad. As I want to use gizmo with amd64 and therfore I need 2 libraries (liborbit and gconf-2). To get it working, I just copied them from my 32 Bit installation. But that's not the way to do it right. It would be nice if you could tell me how to create correct emul packages or give me hint where to find information about it. If there is no documentation at all covering this topic, I wonder how new developers are able to join gentoo. Sincerely yours, Daniel Bahrdt
There is no documentation for the newer emulation libraries at this time.
